In 2008, Zoo “sauvage” visitors will have an extra treat: the sight of three bear cubs happily discovering the pleasures of the Nature Trail Park. Their mother, a black bear, gave birth to them during the winter season and they came into the world in January or February, weighing somewhere between 250 and 450 grams (1/2 lb - 1 lb).
It was only on April 15 that the Nature Trail Park keeper spotted them for the first time, as the female and her cubs were cautiously leaving their den. The mother doesn’t go far from the den with her young and takes them back in for shelter at regular intervals. But over the coming weeks, as the cubs get bigger, they will become more self-assured and follow their mother around outside, ready to scramble up trees at the slightest warning of danger.
Something special for visitors to look forward to.
