Preserve Northern life or, the conservation of the boreal biodiversity
With a slogan such as: " learn to know, know to appreciate, appreciate to protect" it was natural to evolve from a zoological institution, with major preoccupations of conservation, to a centre dedicated to the protection of all species. To protect the livings one needs, first of all, to understand them better and to share that knowledge so that all can acquire a "planetary eye"!
The CCBB thus has a mission of conservation, research and education. With its installations and collections, both zoological and floral, the CCBB renders possible the study of several phenomena and natural behaviours and … their teaching to all the visitors which come to enjoy themselves! Here is an example of possible "lesson" that we can learn here:
- Ethology is the study of behaviour. Grooming is sometimes more than the way animals clean themselves, it can also send messages via different gestures. The precise study of these behaviours reveals the language of animals. Do know you what this hare is telling you? (click on the picture)
